Reports are saying J.J. Abrams will direct Episode 7. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I was hoping for Brad Bird (despite the fact that he wasn't going to do it... *sobs*), but really, I was unsure about who could direct this. At this point, outside of Lucas, Kershner and Marquand (which I have just found out that the last two are dead...

Oh well, I don't think it's worth fretting about until we have anything substantial. Heck even the new Star Trek movie coming out in May is still shrouded in mystery. And I think it has a chance of being something good! (As long as there's less lens flare (one of the bad points), better writing with Uhura and other female characters (also a bad point) McCoy and Scotty being funny (good points), then I'm all set to enjoy this. And if he can improve his iconic-sci-fi-franchise-movie-making-skills, the better, no?)
I say, don't think too much about it until we get some casting rumors. That's bound to stir up some talkings on the nets.

Michael Arndt is writing the script. He's written Little Miss Sunshine, which I've never seen, and Toy Story 3! :)
True, through it's that unknown factor that makes me worried. I don't mind not knowing anything plot related. It's like trusting someone you don't know to take care of a pet or a baby...except they're not my pet or child...I'm just very emotionally invested in their well-being!! XD Apparently, Abrams doesn't like spoilers. He likes to surprise people, so I say other than casting news, we might not know anything about the movie until opening day.
Lens flares have become a running joke on theforce.net's forums! :p Kind of annoying after awhile.

Yep, glowing rocks that did pretty much what you expect glowing rocks to do. That is, glow and some times not glow. That's pretty much all they did! But they were very important for the plot, maybe. It's quite possible that the plot could have gone on without them, but they glowed!
(which is why I hate flow-walking so much...).
lolwhut? Wait, don't answer. It sounds vaguely familiar in a very ominous way.
I saw Toy Story 3. That bodes well. :)
Apparently the lens flare thing was because "Star Trek is in the future! And the future is shiny!!", so should not be a problem for Star Wars. The OT was very "used future", and it makes sense to follow that, rather than go with the prequels' "Things are still new and shiny!".

I figured as much. XD

Well, you know what to google for if you're interested! XD Honestly, Del Rey has done more damage to the Star Wars universe than anyone! Every time the prequels would prove something from the EU wrong, Del Rey would retcon it back into truth. They seemed more concerned with having a single continuity than making sure that continuity made sense! Gah!
Yeah, it does. :) I just hope no one dies in this film. T_T
Well, if the sequels showcase a New Republic, then Luke, Han and Leia are likely to be on Coruscant surrounded by new and shiny things...well, except for the Falcon! XD Really, that fact that things were 'new' and 'shiny' didn't bother me. I can see the sense of that. It was the fact that sometimes, it felt like CGI. Maybe it was and maybe it wasn't, but it sometimes gave off the sense of being CGI (especially the Naboo ships). That was one of the few problems I had with the PT.
Also the fact that every movie had it's own set of ships, whereas the OT had the main characters stick to one ship each (Luke - X-wing, Han - Falcon) while still introducing new ships and such.
