I had my follow-up hospital appointment today, and it turns out that there actually is a reason why this little procedure might've felt somewhat painful.
My consultant sat me down, took a look inside my mouth and started to apologise. It seems the stitches didn't hold, and where they cut into the gums in order to get at my teeth? The area ruptured, and it's just bare bone there now.
I'm now on stronger painkillers, and some antibiotics. No Jack Daniels for me,
idontlikegravy - any other non-alcoholic suggestions?
I'm also still experiencing a lot of stiffness in my jaw, meaning that I've essentially been on a liquid diet for the last two weeks - I can't open my jaw much wider then the thickness of my finger right now, but it apparently should pass. Unless there's fibrosis. And then I'm buggered. And then further action will have to be taken.
Mr Consultant offered me what he called 'the one bit of good news? At least your wisdom teeth won't come back.' Uh, thanks.
I'm calling my GP tomorrow to update her, and see if she thinks I should go ack to work, because i'm really not sure. I'm tired, and in pain, but I feel like unless I'm on my death bed, I should be in. I'm leaving the final say to her.
