Dotty peered out the small, round window of the airplane. All she could see was soft, cotton-like clouds, occasionally giving way to small patches of rippled blue ocean thousands of feet below her. She smiled to herself. She was finally doing it. After dreaming about it since she was a teenager, Dotty Bradford was going to see the sights of SimEurope.
She smoothed the skirt of her new traveling suit as she went over her itinerary in her head one more time. Her flight would land in Simdon, where she would spend a few days. From there, a quick but necessary stop in Simmandy, then SimParis, the SimFrench countryside, Simte Carlo, SimVenice, and onto SimRome, where she would catch another airplane back to Simerica. She would be busy, but there was still so much she had needed to leave off of her schedule as she only had three weeks of vacation. Still, some SimEurope was better than no SimEurope, and it gave her an excuse to go back sometime in the future.
“Excuse me, Miss Bradford,” one of the stewardesses said. “Can I get you something to drink with your meal?”
Dotty looked up. “A glass of wine would be lovely. Can you suggest something that will go with dinner?”
“Of course. You requested the filet Mignon, yes?” She paused as Dotty nodded. “I’ll be right back with your drink and your dinner.” The stewardess picked up the dish that had once held Dotty’s shrimp cocktail appetizer, and headed back towards the back of the airplane.
Moments later, she returned with Dotty’s dinner on a china plate, and a set of silverware wrapped in a linen napkin. Dotty’s mouth watered as she inhaled the lovely smell of her steak, whipped potatoes, and green beans with almonds. There was a glass of burgundy wine to complement the steak, and Dotty sniffed it as she swirled it around in the glass before taking a sip.
“Will there be anything else, Miss Bradford?”
“No, thank you. It looks delicious.”
The stewardess smiled. “When you’ve finished, let me know and I’ll bring your dessert. Lemon chiffon pie.”
Dotty nodded, as she tucked the napkin into her collar so she wouldn’t accidentally spill on her expensive suit. She gazed out the window again as she ate her dinner, wondering what adventures awaited her once she landed in Simland.
