let the good outweigh the bad
The good:
* Spent a fabulous weekend with
varadia, hanging out and seeing various sights, including Garden of the Gods and mountain scenery around Pikes Peak and Cheyenne Mountain. It was wonderful fun, and I really would love a teleporter now, please.
* Furious Seven. Many of you may be unaware of my unabashed love for these movies - that's okay. Just know that I love them for a whole long list of reasons, in particular for their commitment to strong and diverse found families, and I enjoyed this one too. I also cried buckets at the tribute for Paul Walker, and will probably continue to do so; the impact his life and his passing have had on so many people is incredible.
* By way of
twistedchick, a casting opportunity to be in Captain America 3. Not gonna lie, if I lived close to Atlanta, I would be there in a hot second.
The bad:
* Not only did the Sad Puppies/Rabid Puppies usual suspects continue their campaign of ugh for the Hugos this year, they recruited Gamergate to help with it. Talk about poisoning the well, but I guess we're supposed to believe it's about ethics in sci-fi journalism.
(Hint: That's bullshit.)
Anyway, it looks like I'll be buying a supporting membership to both vote this year and nominate next year.
