strange things did happen there
Talia update: she's taking the subcutaneous fluids well and seems content, so on we go from here.
Last night I went to the theater to see Mockingjay Part 1 again, for reasons that are complicated to explain - but it's something I've been wanting to do for several weeks now, so I finally just went and did it. Unsurprisingly, since the movie's been out for so long, the theater was empty when I went in and sat down. I thought for a few minutes that I'd end up being the only one there, but during the previews a guy came in and sat down one row behind me and several seats over to the left, and we both settled in to watch the film.
He had to scramble out to take a phone call right as the movie was starting and when he came back --
Guy: "I'm so sorry - did I miss anything?"
Me: "Hm? Oh! No, not really - [Katniss] is just [explains context for current scene.]"
Guy: "Thanks so much! I couldn't remember exactly where the last movie ended so I wasn't sure."
Now normally this might annoy a person, but with just the two of us there, it was weirdly like home theater, even though we'd never met. Things kind of went on like that; both of us cringed violently and groaned aloud at the first attempt to film Katniss in a propo, for example, but by and large we were both quiet and watching the movie.
And then... we reached the scene at the quarry, where Pollux asks Katniss to sing.
Katniss: "... are you, are you--"
Guy behind me: *chimes in with perfect tenor* "--coming to the tree..."
I traded a quick look with him -- and joined in. We sang duet throughout the scene, until it faded into the events at the dam.
Surreal but as a passing encounter, really a lot of fun. Who knows, maybe we'll run into each other again at the next movie.
