routine ramblings and revelations

Apr 20, 2011 23:06

Today was a bit odd, enough so that by the time the work day was over, I had checked the moon phase three times just to be sure it was no longer full (it's not; waning gibbous, if you're interested, 87% of full) and looked up planetary retrograde schedules to see if anything was going on there.

(For what it's worth, it turns out Mercury is in retrograde in Aries, which is my sun sign, and is also approaching its direct station within 3 days. Okay then.)

I feel as though there are several-many-lots of things I had meant to write about, but my thoughts are so scattered that I can't come up with much. Work remains work-like; school remains... actually, no, more on that after Monday when I expect to chat with my committee chair; and life itself goes on as per normal, for the most part.

This is the time of year when I start eyeing the calendar in order to pay close attention to deadlines and key dates. I am realizing that I really do need to start planning now for several timeline and travel-related things coming up in the next few months. To wit:
  • One month from today, POTC4 hits theaters! Trainwreck or amazing story, I will be there to see it. (People who are considering plans related to this, email me please?)
  • Thanks to work-related things, I will finally have the chance to visit Seattle during the second week in June. If I don't have to be in Ohio the week before that, I may head west early if I can manage it...
  • Somewhere before POTC I am supposed to head east for more work-related things. I'm still trying to make that line up with a chance to see the latest play that my sister's in. Considering the timeframes involved, I better figure that one out soon.
  • I really do need to get my flight for Dragon*Con. I mean, gosh, it's almost September already. Right? ;)
Mentioning Dragon*Con reminds me that Starfest was last weekend. I went, and had rather a lot of fun just wandering around - I picked up a few things in the dealer room, enjoyed a lot of the displays and costumes, and wandered in for a panel or two as the mood struck. I also attended and even asked a question during Mark Sheppard's session and spoke with Luciana Carro while she signed an autograph for me, emerging starry-eyed and unscathed on both counts. I might post a few pictures if I get around to pulling them from my phone -- the nine-year-old kid dressed up as the Doctor and waving a sonic screwdriver from the door of the life-size model TARDIS his parents had built is one of my personal favorites.

After that I joined agonistes and vivien529 for birthday dinner shenanigans, which was loads of fun, too.

... and now my little alarm is chiming at me, letting me know it's time to sleep, so I think I shall go and do just that. Catch y'all on the flip side of night.
