SPN 6.01 - Exile on Main St.

Sep 24, 2010 22:26

Long story short -- despite what I said on Twitter, thanks to the dedicated efforts of a Comcast tech who was extremely upset on my behalf and so who kept working on the problem his own for another half-hour after I hung up, the Internet connection is back! (TV cable is still dead, but that's less critical.)

Which meant, of course, that I could seek online sources for the season six premiere -- and thus I did, and I watched it.

I'm saying it now. Something's seriously wrong with Sam. To the point where I'm wondering if that was even him. Or what he left of himself in the pit, or what was burned out of him there.

Loved the opening montage, loved the song choice, loved what Jensen Ackles did with what he was given. Loved Lisa, a lot.

Hated all Campbells ever as seen here. Hated the shoehorned and off-kilter feeling of the whole episode. I am holding out hope that it's supposed to be a plot point, that the use of the reality-altering djinn as the first MOTW is a clear signal that the world itself is not right (as also hinted at by the fact that the rules are evidently being broken with respect to werewolves etc. and the shattered glass image in the opening credits/title sequence), and that we can't trust what we're seeing. I am hoping HARD.

Because it's either that, or this season's going to be worse than I ever imagined it could be writing-wise.

(And if that's the case, and it doesn't get better -- Milliways folk? Stand by for AU.

...which should give you some idea of just how disappointed I was.)

Anyway, I guess we'll see.
