it's a fever dream, right?

I went to bed with a touch of some sort of flu-like virus (I had the flu shot, so it better not be some variant of the full version), woke up and called in sick to work due to fairly extreme chills and fever, then propped myself up on the couch with laptop and started catching up on things.

Sorry to tell you that it's a mixmatch year, it's the B strain this year; you'll have some protection though.

Oh, great.

The CDC surveillance site indicates that Colorado's showing regional activity levels right now, too.

Still, some is better than none.

We all got the flu shot and then C and I caught something just plain nasty - I thought I was going to die. Only T, who had to get 2 shots this year because it was his first time and he's a baby, has stayed healthy, and Lord knows he's been all up in my face since I got ill.

So... I wouldn't be surprised if it were the flu. It doesn't feel like a cold - it has this "I'm gonna die" feeling to it, as opposed to the "I wish I'd die, temporarily" feeling...

The good news, if you're looking for it, is that if you've got what we had, you'll feel markedly better in 4-5 days, and functional in 3.

I wish you tea and orange juice and effective antibodies which don't overdo it and make you feel worse!

La. Well, it seems to be moving quickly, so maybe it'll pass just as fast. Tomorrow will be day 3, and I really need to BE functional, so.

Thanks! I have both tea and orange juice now -- here's hoping the antibodies are around, too!

...ugh, and Virginia's showing widespread activity, too. I've had the shot as well, but I'm going to be extra careful about hand-washing, especially with the influx of inauguration visitors over the past week. Thanks for the heads-up.

That would be a good Masters dissertation, to study the increases in reportables in the weeks before and after inauguration, the metrics on that could really help pandemic planning.
