GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
Okay. All I wanted was to find another source of reading, something that I could maybe look at for kanji that I'm supposedly able to read. You know, give me an idea of what I need to do further, and what I'm really absorbing. Give me some more contexts. I'm getting tired of reading the manga I already have.
So, I go online, trying to find legal ways of getting Japanese manga or such that I'm interested in reading. This is where Baka Updates is awesome. Browse literally thousands of manga, by genre or such. But, can I get it? Can I find ANY that I would want to read? NOPE. Not in any way that I could access them. Oh, sure, I found several of them on Japanese websites (which were a treat to awkwardly stumble through, lemme tell YOU), but they don't even ship overseas! So, I wallow around in this funk for a bit, trying to find manga or novels or anything that may actually be possible to get for even approaching a reasonable price.
And then I say, screw it!
I don't go looking for raw scans--hell, if I want those, I know where to go. There are loads of places that have raws from all manner of mangas. I think, okay...why don't I try something like a magazine? Then I think, HEY! Wait a sec! People who immigrate from Japan probably want to be able to get their beloved magazines from Japan, right, right? So, there MUST be a way to get them here....
If there is, it's beyond me to figure it out. I bet this is why immigrants feel so depressed all the time when they first get here. This is why they have family over there--so they can ship the damn magazines over. Because as far as I can locate them, they're only within Japan. Bitches.
So, finally, I go looking for scans of magazines. There are 80 billion manga places, SURELY there are magazines, right? And those I feel less bad taking since it's not like people really go around making a living translating the magazines. There's just not a big enough market to translate them. Why translate an old magazine when you could just make a new one in the desired language? But NO. I looked through all manner of sites, some iffy (as in, Ohemgee I ph33r for my computer's safety O.O) and some okay, but nowhere were there just scans of the magazines.
Fukin' interweb. You fail me.
