OVER FIVE THOUSAND. 8D! but uh... not personally. XD the entire fundraiser in fed square raised $5k, which was pretty decent. :'D I think the cosplayers were mainly there so people would come up and ask what was going on, and we could funnel them towards where people were actually selling things. XD
THIS IS WHY I LOVE LJ. >:D EDITORIALISING.
Jo, uh... sports tape. XD A lot of sports tape. And about an hour of pain and crying.
Oh my god, that's amazingly wonderful! So how was it organised? Was it just a walk around, who organised it?! I've seen similar things going around and you know, was thinking it wouldn't be bad if Perth could get in on it too. I mean the media has sort of gotten over Japan but still. :/ Every bit counts right?
♥ YOU DO A GREAT JOB AT IT TOO. It always sounds so interesting, makes me miss you guys even more so with all the epic adventures every week or so!
OMG. *winces* That, that is sort of really amazing and ;; Oh Jo you crazy, crazy awesome girl.
They set up a proper thing at Fed Square! There were the cosplayers and then a lot of former JET people since the JET Alumni were organising it, and while we went around with buckets talking to people, there was a stand selling fanart sketches [requests available! Since, they just set up a whole heap of artists and they were sketching for two hours] and screened Summer Wars and even had a taiko drumming performance! We were collecting money on behalf of the Red Cross but perhaps if you get in contact with the JETAA Perth chapter, they could talk to the Melbourne people and organise something similar? :o
;; Ahaha, it's probably more exciting in text than while it was happening. All the crying and boring parts cut out.
:'D Apparently also took forever to come off jjkajkwe Suffering for her art, that one.
I don't think we have a JETAA Perth! I tried googling but nothing came up. :( I'm thinking of speaking to our local con organisers, see if they're willing to spread the word and maybe give advice, if it possible, if they're willing to help head it. :D Maybe instead of just staying in one area, might go for a charity walk, since a lot of Perth traffic runs along the streets, than a place like Fed Square. *_* Excited for this though, and want to see if I can get something going. Do you think it's too late though?
Haha, I'm sure it's not! Part of the fun is the crying and the waiting around, since without them surely it would be TOO epic?
And awww, you guys, getting donations to Japan with cosplay! How much did you manage to raise?
