I managed to make it to my dentist appointment this morning. The doctor poked around at a wisdom tooth and informed me that it was growing in such a way that it impacted my gums. In effect my gum is actually covering part of the tooth. While the pain can be treated with medicine it will have to be removed in order to prevent rotting and infection. I then asked about the wisdom tooth that wasn't causing me pain and he suggested that it be removed, just in case. With that I was given two prescriptions for medicine and a referral number to a surgeon and sent on my way.
Before leaving the office I made an appointment to see the surgeon in roughly three weeks. From there I may get my teeth pulled the same day or I may have to set another date for the surgery. Either way I'm not looking forward to it. Still, the surgery can't be much worse than the pain I'm currently in or the future possibility of nasty infection.
