Warning: Near Emo Husky Rantings Ahead

Aug 22, 2007 22:38

Up until today, my vacation has been pretty awesome. I got to see New York City twice, Washington, DC, and I even got to venture around some of Old Town Philadelphia. balto_mike is a pretty awesome guy who's bright and has an ambitious future ahead of him. Needless to say, I'm very glad that I got to meet him in person. Spending time with him was ( Read more... )

oh man that totally sucks. theres nothing scarier than your car acting up when you A: have to be somewhere and B: are in an area you don't know :(

*hugs* glad you made it home safely and Mike made his flight, but jeeze...awful.

In the end, I'm glad we were at least able to get Mike to the airport (as well as getting home in one piece). But yeah, I'm just thinking that my car chooses the perfect place to develop a serious problem. =/

I was going to sell my car next year, but I didn't want it to end like this. O_O

yeah turnpikes are not the place to break down. At least you made it safely.
Just outta curiousity, what kind of car do you have?

That's true. The other worse case scenario would have been an accident, which thankfully didn't happen.

I have a 1992 Honda Accord LX. Though the previous owners treated it like crap and despite my best efforts the ending still turned out badly.

As has already been mentioned, it sounds like either your oil pump went out or you have a leak somewhere. unforturnatly that means that the engine may have siezed up, and that would explain why it stopped like that. Of course the car may have a sort of engine protection system that will stop the motor if the oil level or pressure is too low. Not too familer with Japaneese cars tho.

I think the oil pump going makes a lot of sense. I just had the oil changed before my vacation, and other than cold weather it wasn't leaking oil (not externally anyway). I fear that the engine might be gone but does it actually have to overheat first? It never overheated but just stopped working. (Though it completely refuses to turn over now.)

Sounds like the oil pump died on you--opening the oil cap probably wouldn't have helped. Unfortunately, it also sounds like the engine's kaput as well.

I hope you have better luck with your next car.

I also think it would be worth your while to consider buying your next car in Maryland rather than Pennsylvania, Maryland has much tougher lemon laws.

I ran it past my mom and she doesn't want to go to Maryland. Since I'm not driving, I don't have choice. Thanks for the suggestion though.

My default icon well expresses my look after reading this.

I'm glad that you had a safe trip in spite of the car troubles. Sometimes cars aren't really worth the repair trouble. For used car searching, have you tried CarFax? The $25-ish fee is a bargain given that they'll buy back the car if it proves to be anything of a lemon... Anyways, I hope that you find all of this resolved soon.

Wishing you the best.

*nods.* A safe trip is one thing to be very thankful for. And yes, if I could repair the car, I might just sell it anyway. And I'll try my best to use CarFax. But is there anything I can do about if I'm not looking online?

Thanks, Nex.
