I just finished watching volume 8 of
Gantz and it was pretty messed up. From the first episode I knew Gantz would be an anime that's more twisted than usual, but it also has a high shock value too. When a character dies, it's usually so sudden that you don't have time to feel sad about their deaths. By the you realize that they are gone, you're usually more worried about the characters alive and still playing the game. With only six more episodes left in the series, I wonder if any of the original characters from the early episodes will make it out alive. I thought Kishimoto would at least make out alive. In the end she gave her life so that Kato would live, and confessed her love for him as she died. The confession wasn't a shock to anyone but Kato, since she made it known several times to Kei in the past. Makes me wonder if Kato cared for Kishimoto the same way she cared for him? Judging from Kei's reaction upon her death, he still did care for her, even if he spent the first 15 or so episodes lusting over her.
As far as the dog they named "Dog", I thought he would live too. I suppose there was no where for him to run and hide this time.
I still have volume 9 to watch, and I'll have to wait until the middle of next month to see the ending in volume 10. (On a final note, Kishimoto's first name is kei. But the "Kei" that I refer to is Kei Kurono. So in order to avoid confusion they often referred to themselves by their family names. So Kishimoto often called Kei "Kurono", and Kei and Kato often called her Kishimoto. Yeah, that was a pointless note. ^^)
Well with that out of the way, I suppose I could ramble about other things. Only one more night to go before a nice three day break from work. Of course New Years will be here before I know it. Fortunately, nothing is planned this year, so perhaps I'll actually get to do some relaxing around the house. I'll take the time to watch all that I recorded on Adult Swim dating back to November. Then when Adult Swim gets back into the swing of things with anime next Saturday, I should be all caught up on the series. I do look forward to seeing Fullmetal Alchemist, Ghost in the Shell: The Second Gig, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. I think Scryed has probably ended already, though I saw the series subtitled already over the summer. Hmm, now that I have my DVD burner, I might resume looking for subtitled episodes of Naruto. Hopefully the episodes won't be too hard to find since the series started airing on Toonami.
Last night I got a pretty big check from UPS form all of the double shifts I worked last week. This week I've only been averaging about three hours, sometimes less. So next week's check (with union dues taken out) will probably be pretty crappy by comparison. But with the holidays over, I can at least save my money now and pretty soon my large credit card bill will be paid off. I've managed to get it down from an all time high of $1400 dollars to about $388 right now. I think I should be finished with it in about two more payments.
Now I should probably get some exercise and get dressed. I have to run down to the drug store to pick up my allergy medicine from the pharmacy, and I have to pick up some over the counter stuff. With luck, I may play some Xenosaga II before work. And if I'm not on AIM tonight, assume that I went out with co-workers after the shift for a New Year's celebration, not unlike the Christmas one. Hopefully there won't be any more writing on napkins. ;) Once that is over, I have to get up and take Lamonica to see her mother in the morning.
