The Interview
So, when was it again? Oh yeah, Wednesday. So I barely made it on time (had to take permission letter to Ben's school so his artwork could be displayed in student art show, then forgot directions) but found parking OK. I was interviewed by law librarian/prof, asst. dean, and two guys from IT. Went stellar. I'm always a little nervous going in, but once I'm in there, I'm fine. They were really nice, and funny. The law lib/prof guy said one of the benefits of working there was that your dependents can go to school for free "so if you have children or wives..." Wives? Then he made a joke about the Texas Mormon group. Pay was about the same as I'm getting now, but with a longer commute, I'd need more money, which is what I told them, and they said they'd consider it. I'm gonna need at least a couple grand more. But I figure, even if I don't make much more, I'd still be getting raises every year, which I'm not getting now.
But anyway, they said that in about two weeks they'd narrow it down to three finalists, and then have another round of interviews. BUT, I got a call back THAT AFTERNOON asking could I possibly come down tomorrow? (i.e. Thursday) Kriss calls me at work and tells me this just before I have to run spotlight at a show at the Twinsburg Hilton (where I am right now for a different event), so my head was spinning from all this happening so fast. I have to at least stay at NPI through May 17th, because I volunteered my gear and expertise to a film fest in Lakewood.
So, I e-mailed them and said next week would be better. So, next Weds. at 10 a.m. is my next interview...
