It's my favorite part of the semester. Well actually it's Midterm season which is my least favorite, but anyway, it also happens to be my favorite part of the semester: next semester's tentative course offerings have been released! I'm going to try to get all of my upper-level credits out of the way (except for the mandatory Government 391 or whatever, which I haven't taken the prerequisite for).
Monday/Wednesday 3:00-4:15 Colonial Latin American Communities
Monday 7:20-10:00 Visualizing Irish Nationalism
Tuesday 7:20-10:00 US Holidays*
Wednesday 7:20-10:00 Microeconomic Principles
Thursday 7:20-10:00 Introduction to American Government**
As you can see I had an obvious interest in the way I selected my courses. In fact, I pretty much just chose Colonial Latin American Communities at random. I have always wanted to learn about the colonizing of Latin America, so I guess it's time, but still, I pretty much sighed when I chose it. No love for Friday night classes?
At the end of Comp class, Prof Koch stopped one of the other students and told him that he always has such interesting things to say, that he always seems to be able to find the heart of the matter and find something to disagree with, that he's gifted at giving constructive criticism. "You don't speak often, but when you do, it's always really interesting!" she told him.
I wanted in on this, because he does always have interesting things to say, and so I said to no one in particular, "It's never really a debate until you say something!" But no one reacted so I went back to gathering my stuff and heading out. The guy thank the prof and left. Then Prof Koch said, "What were you saying?"
"Oh, I was just saying that it's never really a debate until he weighs in."
Prof Koch nodded. Then she said, "He's like the opposite of me -- of us, we're really similar, we always just say whatever's on our minds. But he's really quiet, because he's thinking, analyzing."
I smiled and said, "Oh well that's good that we're similar, because you're a good teacher and I want to be a teacher."
"Oh!" she looked delighted. "You're going to be a great teacher!"
Yay genuine compliments for everyone!
