First of all, my favorite pictures from Ashley's going-away party on Sunday:
(pictures by Jenny)
Ashley's hair, before it was braided. Her hair is so pretty.
I'm still not sure who these people are (family? friends?) but I like their expressions. In the background is Jenny's roommate Jia, who was wearing the same blue polka-dot dress that I wear to all my swing events. Crazy! We agreed that we have the best fashion sense ever.
I just like the lighting in this one.
And the composition of this one.
Ilana and I. Well I tried to look candid at least!
Ashley strikes a pose in the middle of dance.
Lakshmi, Anna-Rose, and Maryam rock it.
GROUP PHOTO.
Okay, enough of that. Livejournal's "Ask Me Anything" community asked what picture we had posted to facebook had received the most most likes. Mine is:
This is the picture of me on my first day of volunteering at Mount Vernon Estates. I asked one of the other volunteers to take my picture, because I assumed that the first thing anyone would ask was "did you get to wear a costume?" And so I posted this picture, and got a whopping 11 likes. Other popular pictures:
James, Mom, and Dad getting cupcakes at Occasionally Cake (9 likes)
The cake James made for Easter (10 likes)
James' Valentines Day presentation (9 likes)
Me holding ALL THE KITTENS (7 likes)
A sign for a local church (6 likes)
Slinky dressed in the first stages of his Bulbasaur costume (6 likes)
Christmas Eve-Eve dinner from last Christmas (7 likes)
What can we learn from this? If you want your picture to be Liked, compose it around a universal...noun, I guess? Such as a holiday (Easter, Christmas, Valentine's Day), or something funny (the church sign), or animals doing something silly (the kittens, Slinky). The fact that only those pictures got Likes, as opposed to the many other pictures I've taken for holidays and of animals, says that you also have to post pictures sparingly. I've gotten more Likes in recent mobile picture posts than in the rest of my fifty-six other individual albums.
I'm kind of upset with how today went. I went to bed on time (11:00 PM) instead of trying to put it off. I woke up at 7:00, when my alarm went off, but I didn't want to get out of bed. I just stayed in bed until 10:30, when I finally made myself get up and take a shower and eat Brunch. I didn't run. I didn't eat breakfast and lunch separately. I was five minutes late for work at the library. And I didn't get as much done at the library as I wanted. I only got the library rates and one large article processed.
I also called Fairfax County to get signed up for substitute teaching orientation. They weren't able to pull up my reference letters. Didn't they look at my reference letters when I applied? Is this just some sort of automatic-acceptance thing? Is there a possibility that I'm not going to be able to substitute teach?
They said that they would call me back once they were able to get my reference letters to pull up. If they don't call me by Thursday morning, I'm going to call them and see if I can resend the letters. Other than that...well...I don't know what I'll do if I can't teach.
