But you didn't have to cut me off!

I had this conversation over the phone today, as I was walking home from my jog:

Kelsey: Hello?
Mom: Kelsey? Are you okay??
Kelsey: Yes, I'm fine, why?
Mom: You called me at 2:00 in the morning!
Kelsey: Oh! Hahahaha! Did you know that we landed a rover on Mars this morning?
Mom: ...no...?
Kelsey: Yeah, and they were streaming a video of the view inside the control room. I was watching it on my phone, but it cut out like two minutes before the rover landed.
Mom: Oh no!
Kelsey: And by the time I got the internet up and running on your computer, the rover had landed and all I got to see was scientists celebrating!
Mom: Oh, no, I'm so sorry.
Kelsey: So I'm really mad and I pick up my phone and slam it down so hard it called you. And then I thought, why is Mom's phone ringing at 1:30 in the morning?
Mom: *laugh*
Kelsey: I didn't realize what happened until I heard your voicemail on my phone. I knew we would end up having this conversation.
Mom: Ah. Well I'm glad you're okay. Will I see you tonight?
Kelsey: Yes.
Mom: Good! I'll see you tonight!
Kelsey: Okay, bye!

In retrospect, if I had been in a better state of mind I would have picked up my phone and left an explanation on her voicemail. Then again, if I had been in a better state of mind I probably wouldn't have slammed my phone on the kitchen table.

Normally I have a violent temper only when I have extremely low blood sugar, but it appears that forcefully sleep-depriving myself for two nights in a row gives me the same short fuse. I'll have to keep that in mind for the future.
