JUST FINISHED THE LAST BOOK OF HARRY POTTER.
it feels so surreal. you can say, i grew up with the book. i'm almost part of that world, i know probably every detail of the harry potter series, i once wished dearly that i was part of that world. everytime a new harry potter book is released, i'd be all excited because i get to find out more about the big magic boy ;) and the magical wizarding world.
and now, there's no more harry potter 8 to look forward to, there's no more guesswork, no more wild theories and fascinated endings.
ITS OVER.
oh good lord.
so many people died, the person who wrote the review in straits times today was right. i started crying when i'm not even 1/5 through the book. jk rowling seems determined to wring us readers and dangle us at the end of her pencil, my heart was in my throat when i went through the part, Death Eaters appeared to attack the 7 potters. and harry escaped ol' voldie barely all the time!!! i keep screaming at the back of my head, ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod. and good loyal hermione and ron. without them harry would be nowhere.
i'm amazed at how harry managed to persevere and eventually managed to manuveur his way around and find the horcruxes. frankly, if i were him i'd be scared out of my own pants and crouching in a corner or something. or go into hiding, like aberforth suggested. the middle part was.. hohm. the begininng and the end was simply enthralling. snape's part totally sewn those final stray ends together, though i already know that severus loved lily. :( bah. when harry's wand broke, my heart just. whaaaaaaaat, whats he gonna do now with no wand?!
oh well they fought it through. :\ harry turned out to be a horcrux after all, that was what was on everyone's mind but boyohboy. jk rowling managed to weave it into the plot, without making it seem like she ripped it off an amazingly good fanfic. kudos to her!
so, seven horcruxes. i lost track of them after sitting on the couch for a good 7 hours.
1) harry
2) nagini
3) the locket
4) hufflepuff cup
5) ravenclaw diadem
6) the marvolo ring
7) the diary
come to think of it, harry really destroyed all the horcruxes. it did seem highly impossible. i can't remember when nagini died though, my impression was that she was always on voldemort's shoulders. hm!
and voldemort seemed so vulnerable in the last scene, when he and harry were cornering each other like gladiators. harry's theory about the elder wand was just. woah since when did you have brains! and seeing dumbledore back in action, okay, back at harry's side, was somewhat comforting. he gives ME a sense of comfort too, let alone to the characters in the story.
i can't believe the harry potter saga has finally ended. sigh, hopefully people will sprout better movies to match up to the books someday.
oh yes, the funny bits. professor trelawnary throwing crystal balls at the Death Eaters, that was simply classic. i couldn't stop laughing. and mrs weasley was so cool, battling bellatrix. i think the movie directors would have a really hard time, seeing how the current actors would find it really hard to portray the roles jk rowling bestowed upon her characters. like ginny, how on earth is she going to seem, long flowing hair, beautiful, nice to kiss, good to hold, loving, strong, etc. she never did seem so, the actress. and mrs weasley, i cant picture her fighting bellatrix lestrange with as much ferocity as displayed in the book.
"THAT'S MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH." hahaha, thats the first time i see jk rowling using something remotely vulgar in the books. how very enjoyable.
i miss the books already. now, there's this. serene feeling in my heart. i never expected jk rowling to come up with a sweet sappy ending like most books and dramas would, 19 years later. and show hermione, ron, harry, ginny, the lot, all grown up and sending their kids to hogwarts. it just didnt seem her. :\ oh well.
it was kinda sweet though. i thought the last word of the series was going to be 'scar'. turned out not, it just had something to do with that lighting shaped thing.
fred's death was. so sad. but percy's return was totally corny la, wth. but it does show that, yknow. there's strength in numbers! the way the Death Eaters were crushed at the end, was quite. heartwarming. it reminded me a little of LOTR. but, hm. too bright an ending, but i really really wouldn't have wanted anymore people to die. tonks and lupin, all the marauders are dead. our favourite metamorphagus (come to think of it, our only metamorephagus), tonks, colin creevey with the camera, hedwig the dear snowy owl, severus snape, and voldemort. bellatrix lestrange too. and so much more. like mad eye moody, that was such a sad death :| dobby!!! oh gosh.
the part when the house elves came out, with kreacher leading them, that was nice. and the spiders.. are they good or bad?! poor hagrid though. ted tonks, dean thomas, to see him wandering out of hogwarts, to see so many people rendering support for harry when he returned. aberforth was a complete surprise though many have alised tom the bartender as good relations with Dumbledore.
and the latter's past. it wasn't as dark as it seemed to me, but i was seriously shocked when he wanted to sacriface harry like a stuffed pig at the very end. but it did turn out nicely, voldemort still didn't manage to kill harry. and dumbledore's potrait did help a great deal; i knew he'd come to use. i just didn't expect that hogwarts would be run over and the entre ministry so corrupted.
what did ginny want to give harry for his birthday, i was rereading that part and didn't get it. hm! i was thinking along the lines of... OH NO ARE THEY GOING TO HAVE SEX.
woops. anyway, seeing the trio outside of school facing the dangers, real dangers, real pure unnerving dangers. thats just so fresh and new, and yes. unnerving.
but i must say,
i enjoyed every single minute of the entire harry potter journey.
GO READ THE BOOK(S) IF YOU HAVEN'T. its, a feeling of a lifetime. really. (:
thank you JK rowling!
cheers, to the boy who lived.
