Back in the groove
Happy Gilmore Tuesday, everyone! It was nice to wake up this morning and be able to say that. I am almost completely unspoiled--I saw one promo pic which I believe to have spoiled me a little, but other than that, I am a complete Mary. Somehow this summer wasn't as heart-rendingly painful as last year, but I'm definitely excited for whatever Amy's throwing our way. Plans include a small par-tay with all the Gilmore-watching folks from my life, and a big pot of chocolate fondue. Should be fun.
The fact that it's G-Day does have one minor downside for me, and that is that I have officially missed my self-imposed deadline for the fic I've been working on all summer. I haven't given up; I'm just slower and more easily distracted than I thought. Post-finale fics are never quite as effective once the following premiere has aired, but I still think I have a bit of a different take on the whole summer situation, so I'm hoping Amy doesn't steal it or anything, and it'll still be something new (I refuse to use the word "fresh") when I'm done. The good news in all of this is that I did some writing last night that eased some of my previous fears--I've been aware that the premise of the fic may border on OOC territory, but I've also been convinced that proper front-loading of the story would relieve that disconnect, and I think I've done that to my own satisfaction. It's good. I'm just going to keep writing.
