Juggling and Payoffs

Jan 08, 2010 15:30

I feel like I'm having a pretty productive and focused week. I seem to be juggling many, many projects right now. Most of them are behind-the-scenes things or prep-work for bigger dreams, so the outward progress isn't as dramatic, but its happening. Very exciting. Also very stressful.

Part of the stress  is that to devote the time I need to developing them, I'm actually working less paying hours. I've also been spending money in the development process. Most of my friends know how debt makes me nervous, so it should come as no surprise how uncomfortable I feel right now.

On the plus side of this, once everything is set up, I'm going to be less reliant on working/writing for others and more free to pursue what is important to me in my own manner. My name will also be more associated with my writing and teaching/facilitation--for better or for worse. Eeep.

Another plus side right now is that I'm learning about 'new' technology and how to use it since most of my projects revolve around access to or delivery of information via the Internet. This stuff is fun... when I'm not busy tearing my hair out when it's not working!!! But even that sometimes is fun in the sense of trying to figure out what's wrong, how to fix it, or how to do it better. Thankfully, I didn't set any formal launch deadlines for these projects. It sort of takes the pressure off.

Other cool stuff happening too. At some point I'll write more.

projects, life, work
