About disappointments and let-downs.

So, okay, yeah... ouch. Way to boost up my confidence spn_j2_bigbang. Or you know... not.

My last art post I made for pigeongirl99's story (which is located HERE, in case some of you missed it for some reason), which I posted on monday morning, got the grand total of 3 comments (One of which was made by my author ( Read more... )

Sorry to hear this! I know you put so much into your drawings, and you know that I know that big_bang art is a lot of work for the artist and that comments matter!
I have been on vacation and I haven't been looking through the big_bang's that has been posted yet (other than to read J2 RPS summaries to see if there was anything to read, but I haven't even looked at any author and or artist names!). Just wanted to you to know that the reason I haven't commented is that I hadn't even noticed that you had posted yet another big bang yet!

Will look at it now! Just wanted to comment on this first!
*hugs*

It's just... It irritates me that people who read and comment on the bigbang fics, don't take the little time it takes to also comment on the art. Just... the art is a big part of the whole bigbang experience, but all people see seems to be the fic. At least, that's how it feels right now.

Aaaanyway... thank you for commenting. I knew you where away, so I wasn't expecting anything from you yet. I haven't had time to check out my friendslist yet (been working the last three days), so I hope you had a great time on your vacation.

*hugs back*

*awkward, but big hug*
The online art world is a hard one, and having your art more or less ignored is a mental gutpunch. Let the re-sign-up decission wait until the actual time arrives, and then decide whether or not you want to make the effort again

If it makes you feel any better; your devART gallery is a year younger than mine but has over double the number of hits; even if spn_j2_bigbang doesn't love you, devART does ;)
And now I shall find out why I haven't added you there yet >_>;

Yeah, I know, and I'll probably sign up again next year... I'm always having a lot of fun with the author, and creating the visual to the story... I think it's just a combination of frustrations I've been having for some while and being incredibly tired after three 10 hour days at my new job. So yeah.

Heh. Mostly, DevArt is awesome. And I just saw that I haven't added you either, so I'll go and rectivy that. *nods*

Awww, honey, I'm sorry it's turned out to be a disappointment this time around. I feel like I should offer explanation for my own lack of comment on your big bang arts this year: I'm actually (however irrationally) not comfortable with RPF/RPS. Which, obviously, is by no means a problem where other people are concerned except in that there are otherwise-enticing links that I don't click sometimes.

But I CAN say that the thumbnails looked lovely! *hugs* You are a phenomenal artist, my dear, and don't let a fluke comment count convince you otherwise.

Hmm, yeah. I keep forgetting most people aren't like me. I click on every piece of artwork on my friendslist, no matter what it is. :'3

If it helps any... my art is pretty tame this year. There's not even kissing (you know, only almost kissing) in both the artposts. Especially the second one is mostly character study.

Anyway... I think this post is mostly the result of a combination of frustrations I've been having for some while (if you comment on a bigbang fic, why don't take the few seconds it takes to also leave a snippet for the artist?!) and being incredibly tired after three 10 hour days at my new job. So yeah.

I'll get over it. I hope.

I honestly don't think there's much connection between comments and quality, or even between comments and appreciation. I'm a totally non-visual person, so my observations are from the world of words, but... I've seen fic that I really think is poorly written by any objective standard get loads of positive feedback while some seriously good shit languishes without recognition; I've also had personal experience where I've come across someone who rec'ed one of my stories with effusive praise, but never left a comment in the fic itself.

I know it's incredibly frustrating, because the comments are the only sign we have that people are even looking at our efforts, but I really don't think they're an accurate measure of quality, at ALL!

So, that's not to say you shouldn't be discouraged, but be discouraged about your medium of distribution rather than your art itself, maybe?

Hugs.

I second this entirely. I really think comments are a poor representation of appreciation. Its definitely frustrating I know, but it happens to everyone. Don't get yourself down about it! I can assure you it has nothing to do with your drawing abilities :D You are an amazing artist, and I'm not just saying that. What you created for my story this year was beyond spectacular, and what you created for the most recent story is certainly no less.

I also want to apologize for not commenting on the latest. When fandom fails, your f-list should have your back. I've had the link to your art bookmarked in my favorites to go back and comment but I have completely failed to! When I switched journals I didn't add the big bang community but I saw your art post on my f-list so I did catch it. Anyway, enough of my excuses :X

You're amazing, babe. Keep your chin up ♥

Aww, thank you. And I'm trying, but sometimes it's hard.

I know, I know. I've seen it too. There are artposts with loads and loads of comments where I don't think it's really earned, and artposts with incredible art who only get a comment or two, three.

So yeah, I know you're right. I think this post is mostly the result of a combination of frustrations I've been having for some while (if you comment on a bigbang fic, why don't take the few seconds it takes to also leave a snippet for the artist?!) and being incredibly tired after three 10 hour days at my new job. :'3

Thanks for commenting. *hugs back*

::hugs:: This is why I don't like huge fandoms. I like the little ones, a lot less hurt.

*hugs back* Ugh, I know. It's that I love this show way to much to leave it, or I would be looking for something else. D:
