Colorblind? Genderblind? What's Your Take?

Ok, I'd like some feedback. I'm not going to moderate or jump in, I just want to hear what folks have to say. Is taking into consideration a person's race or gender harmful or helpful? Is overlooking or ignoring a person's racial or gender difference a positive or a negative?

I know what I believe; I'm just curious to see what others have to say.
