On a more personal level

Bible study really creeps me out. A bunch of people sitting in a circle talking about how God has affected their lives. Each one adding on to the next about what God has to say and how to take that into context within the day-to-day. I can't do that. I can't really fathom that either. I guess I find it more personally rewarding to do more individual thought and reflection. I'm not sure if it's a feeling that too many religious people are... self-righteous? Unsure.

I know how John would feel about my spirituality. He's right it's probably a crutch, but I can't seem to disengage. I feel much healthier with it, at any rate, so why stop a good thing. Did a lot of reflection and thought on God last week after a really rough night. I came out smiling, and I couldn't help it. Is it self-righteous like all of the other Bible study group goers to say that I came out of it feeling a lot more emotionally confident? Is it emotionally confident to worry if I'm self-righteous? Unsure.

I'm probably very close to being non-denominational Christian, but I'm a bigger fan of considering myself a member of the Episcopalian church. I disagree with Protestants. I disagree with the Catholics and their Pope. Non-denominational Christians are too close to being Unitarians. Does it make me self-righteous to consider Anglicanism to be a good Christianity? Not much conservatism, not too much overzealous interpretation of the Bible. Very open acceptance of various walks of life - a gay archbishop was apparently too much for the assholes, but nobody batted an eye at my various piercings when I went to my parents' church at Easter. Is it self-righteous to be happy that the Minneapolis Episcopal Cathedral performs same-sex marriage (unfortunately merely a ritual thanks to the government)? Unsure.

When I say self-righteous am I really just using a less recognizable form of the term pride? Unsure.

This isn't a very good update. I'm mostly rambling and killing time before I head off to campus to begin a coffee, nicotine, and Japanese marathon. If nobody reads this I'll be fine. I think. Unsure.
