Hemlock Grove was a small, backwater town in Pennsylvania, not really notable for everything since the Steel Mill in town had closed. Well, that was before Friday night, which came with headlines about a dead highschool girl. The bottom half of her body was still unaccounted for. The local sheriff were grudgingly chalking it up as an animal attack, despite that there was not a single animal print near where the body had been found.
Roman had known her, though he wasn't telling anyone that. He might be a Godfrey, but he wasn't stupid enough to give them information that would paint a target on his face, as much as he enjoyed being a social pariah. He hadn't killed her. He'd cut himself, smeared blood on her arm as they fucked, But, he couldn't stop thinking about it, about the blood. Who had killed her? They could say coyote, bear all they wanted, but Roman couldn't believe it. He knew it was something else, something different. He could taste it, feel it on the night air.
He didn't know exactly why he was here, lurking where they'd found her body. He just had this feeling, this pounding in his chest that said that he should be here, should watch, needed to see something. Put his teeth on edge, made him shake with the almost painful intensity as he lurked, waited, like he was hunting something.
Someone would come. He didn't know what he'd do then, but he knew he had to see.
