Building A City Challenge - Week 2

Aug 21, 2012 22:54

When we left off, Angelo Pleasant had found and wed Jane Martin after she kept wandering into his thoughts and wants after meeting her at his store, the Might Meat Market. They dated in a half-silly way, and fell in love after getting married. Jane opened a store called Shear Beauty, gave a few bad makeovers, came home and got pregnant.

A burglar dropped in while the family went into nesting mode, and luckily for them the cop won. They still are out one TV and a violin tho. A third business was started, but didn't get off the ground just yet.

Jane hadn't yet given birth when we left off . . . she's rectifying that now.

Not surprisingly, it's a baby. More specifically, it's a girl whom was promptly named Avangeline. That's a pretty big name for such a little baby, so they've been calling her Angie.

Babies may be adorable, but they're not exciting. Very shortly the small family is in a routine - one parent tends the sproglet while the other is out checking on their store. Jane isn't exactly thrilled with how I re-organized the store, but it really was way too big. And this way they can display more wares!

I also did something about the lighting - there's two more windows, and three lights in there now.

Landmark~! Jane earned the 'Dazzle' ability! And I discover for the first time that it isn't foolproof. A few customers just would not take the bait, and I think it has to do with her lower charisma skill than Angelo.

Oh, Vinculum . . <3 Such a cutie! I know not everyone is fond of goth/punk makeovers, but it works so well for some sims!

Cash register skilling is still annoying slow though.

And lo and behold, a birthday! Witnessed by a random townie! I have to admit, with all the broken faces Maxis has made, I'm curious as to how this kid is going to look.

Results . . inconclusive. Other than that she got Angelo's nose.

Really, it's nice of you to immediately start on toilet training Avangeline, Jane, but could we please get the kid to a mirror? I'm having trouble remembering she's a girl, honestly.

Of course Woohoo is essential to the process. . . Really, they just dropped her off in her crib and proceeded to make beautiful music together. Three times in a row.

There, that's better. And Angelo is totally a doting daddy.

Mommy's busy, anyways.

He actually rolled the want to teach her to walk! I'm not used to my popularity sims wanting to be this involved!

Avangeline is a lucky, lucky little girl.

Not that Angelo hogs her - Jane gets her turn in too. It's just Jane has much less energy with the new baby on the way.

(Picture included because of Avangeline's evil little grin)

That and she's crazy enough to run the store at the same time as being pregnant.

And manages to get a silver register badge. Which does speed things up - I don't have thrown packages anymore - but really, not enough.

Despite appearances, this is NOT Bella Goth. Repeat, this is NOT Bella Goth.

But when she comes home reeking and exhausted, Jane decides she'll stay home for the rest of her pregnancy.

Which frees up Angelo to work on Hookaskank! With the Mighty Meat Market at rank 6, and Shear Beauty at rank 4, I think the family can handle a ticket lot as their third. Angelo does a marvelous job getting sims to buy tickets, although the price is lower than I expected it to be.

And I decide this sort of business is perfect for a Romance sim - very little input is needed, and they can boost the ranks by wooing the customers. If any of the Pleasant kids turn out to be Romance, this is the shop they'll inherit.

Now mind you, I had downloaded some special furniture for this place. *cough*

But in truth, that's when I ended up getting signs that things were going downhill for this neighborhood. Why isn't Angelo out here selling tickets? He's inside, stuck on the custom furniture until he finishes dancing! As soon as I could, I sent him home and later deleted that furniture from my downloads.

This was just too cute to not include.

Without much fanfare, Jane hatched their second child and named him Preston. No, she hasn't boffed the mailman or something! I have geneticized townie skins . . I guess this is a result of that.

The next few days went quickly, and with so much attention from both parents it was soon birthday time!

As if Angelo's expression wasn't funny enough, what's up with the book?

Birthday is promptly celebrated with more nookie.

Sim parenting at its best. Don't worry, Angie is outside jumping rope.

Soon enough, it was Preston's turn for a birthday.

He's CUTE! Totally cute!

Who's been leaving books out?

And in proud family tradition, they immediately start the potty training. No bladder accidents for these kids!

But with a little more free time comes more work at the store. Come rain or shine!

. . . I would be seriously freaking out to be between these two. One the gender swap of the most notorious black widow in the game, the other the highest power on the grave planet you're trying to settle on. And both being known for their sour temperments!

Avangeline is a very active child, and a smart little cookie - I have very little trouble staying ahead of her homework, as long as I let her jump for a few hours after school.

She gets along just fine with her little brother. In fact, they're pretty close siblings, although the toddler table may be to blame for that. She loves to draw, he loves the blocks.

And with this one last picture, we close on this little household.
