Last week, Dean Ottomas hit on a married man, found love in Samson Love, and won him over with ardent wooing. They proceeded to woohoo, wed, and woohoo again before going out to set up their own shop.
This resulted in not only a budding (if badly built) store, but both of them pregnant within a day of each other because I forgot I had the preg4all mod. Since it's happened, I'm keeping the mod. And despite them hatching out twins - each - I'm keeping the triplets & quads mod too.
But yes, we left off with the Ottomas family having grown by four, two girls and two boys each. And all was not well.
Sure, it seemed okay - the new dads were somehow managing to keep on top of diaper changing, feedings, and even teaching a few skills here and there. Running on the edge of ragged and short on sleep, but managing somehow.
But then I made a mistake. A very simple, easy mistake - I thought the game was paused, and went to do something that ended up taking nearly twenty minutes. When something like this happens, I limit myself to two choices - I can either reload the household . . . or play it through. But if I do that, I have to accept what happens - even if sims I want to keep die.
I came back to a game that had been running that whole time, and this was what was going on. Toddlers and parents short on food, sleep, hygiene, and even basic affection. It had gotten so bad that both dads were unable to keep up or even stay awake for very long. And against all logic, I chose to play it through.
But worst of all . . Adoette has not one, but five need bars in the red.
She was stinky, she was starving, she needed cuddles, and she desperately needed sleep to say the least. She couldn't sleep because she was starving - she wouldn't eat because she needed sleep or affection or because she stank . . This was the one time she stopped screaming long enough to eat - and it was a rotten bottle despite Daddy Samson rushing over with a fresh bottle.
Adoette lasted until Friday morning.
Dean and Samson were still frantically trying to keep up with the needs of their children when she arrived.
Quickly, quietly, and efficiently, she picked up their children one by one. Dean was heartbroken, and Samson chose to retreat to the kitchen to weep.
Dean . . I was feeling horrible. I was upset all the kids were gone, Dean and Samson were unable to stop crying, and . . I just saved the game, and quit for a while.
Upon returning, I found Dean was pretty much couldn't be comforted. For a few hours, he walked around with the wants he had rolled while the kids were there, weeping off and on. Samson seemed to be taking the more stoic route - thinking about the kids a lot, but not crying more than two or three times.
That evening, Dean tried to repair the garbage disposal.
He actually has three mechanic points! And yet he still ends up shocked! It makes me wonder if he started crying while working on the garbage disposal.
Samson was distraught - he couldn't lose Dean too! It was hard enough losing the kids!
Dean survived, and Samson quietly waited for Dean to finish weeping before shooing his husband off to shower. (Also, I am very impressed with the hair overlay - it lasts through burning! Very nice.)
After Dean was clean, they both climbed onto the bed and . . . talked. Just talked - I thought ACR had gotten them, but they just talked, and cuddled a little.
They obviously both needed the down time.
The next morning, and with only two days left on their week, they scarfed a quick breakfast and headed off to the Hot Buns Bakery.
With a few more premade items out, business was surprisingly brisk! Dean was rather stinky, so Samson manned the cash register for a bit solo. He did . . fairly well.
Business picked up even further when Dean wandered out to boost sales in his underwear.
Also, schmoozing with your husband at the store? Boosts your mood, your relationship, and your star rating! And creepy customer is creepy, even if he was a nice guy.
After the trip to the shop, Samson and Dean kept things pretty quiet . . talking with each other, dancing. Even a little light flirting and cuddling.
Samson made one attempt to adopt their children back. It . . didn't go well.
(Pictorial proof that they're still buying their groceries from the Creekside shop)
While Samson was on the phone, Dean was out in the yard, digging for grave artifacts. If they ever had that many small children at the same time again, he was determined to have enough money to hire the nanny. Anything to give them an edge in keeping their kids.
And they very much wanted more. (If Photobucket bans this pic, it's a nice one showing off their hair overlays on the bed - with only one censor dot needed)
