Previously in the Creekside household, country yokel Canry Creekside set up stakes on a newly-colonized Grave planet, didn't get along with the resident Gravetender, and started establishing a home. She met and soon married Frank (now formerly Goodie), and proceeded to procreate earlier than expected. Frank ended up opening the first local vegetable store, and then working himself to the bone trying to keep it out of the red.
Canry eventually hatched out their little bundle of joy, and named her Iris. We left off right here - with Frank asleep in his pancakes after a long night of running the store.
Frank, as happy as he is with his new daughter, isn't doing too well. With the store, his needs and interests are getting run over with clogs to put it gently, and his mind is feeling the strain of too much work and not enough study.
Not even a home date gets him very far out of the aspiration reds - the man didn't roll more than a handful of date-related wants. But it at least boosted his needs pretty well. Thankfully this time he didn't leave a deposit in the family bank.
After several hours of fulfilling small-time wants . .
. . . it's back to the grindstone at the store. And meeting Hukari Zoma - the Gravetender's husband. Frank and Huk definitely get along well, although they have little in common other than quite a bit of curiosity.
With the currently colder weather, tempers are short and generally customers don't have much patience. Which makes it hell sometimes to man the register.
Okay Frank, you can stop at the store for now - let's get you back home and out of the aspirational red.
Meanwhile, Canry is handling things at home like a champ. She's on top of her daughter's every need, while keeping the house clean and the garden going.
She's even got time to dig for artifac-KITTY! Kitty kitty kitty! It's Empress Kim no less! There is no way this household is remaining catless now - and Canry springs into action!
Lots of petting . .
. . . lots of playing . .
. . . Canry even makes it to the snuggling stage!
But Kim is a cat, and cats walk the wild ways on their wild lonesome - when not running headfirst into walls or trying to eat bees. Yes, I have owned a cat, and yes, I do love them so. I also know they're a mix of much smarter than you think and dumb as coconuts.
So I was frustrated, but moderately hopeful that Kim would come back at some point during the week.
The next few days slipped by much the same - trying to boost Frank's aspiration and get his needs out of the red, so it was particularly frustrating when one evening he wouldn't quit messing with the baby. Not even the nature hobby lady could pull him entirely away, although her interruption did slow something down.
It was time for Iris to grow up! And . . . wow, that hair totally doesn't suit her. Give me just a moment.
Here she is in her full cuteness, and her toddlerdom couldn't have come at a better time - especially for her father. I seriously love that hairstyle, by the way.
(I also didn't know that toddlers can and will autonomously try to catch fireflies. It is the cutest thing I've ever seen in the sims!)
There is a toddler to play with, but more importantly, there are toddler skills to train! With family as his secondary, Frank is finally rolling a good mix of light and serious wants - most of them orbiting around his daughter, . .
. . most of which are really easy to grant. And enough of them roll up to make it . .
. . . possible for him to indulge in the third love of his life, skilling. Which he has always had one want up for at any time. Now he can do it with the niftiest aid to nerds ever created by Maxis - the lightbulb hat!
He might be a little too enthusiastic about the hat though.
And Frank's not the only one spending time with Iris - Canry insists on her turn with their little one, and ends up being the one to teach Iris how to talk.
Frank ends up being at work when it's time for Iris to transition.
And comes home to this lovely sight - his ladies with their noses in their respective books. Iris definitely inheirited his drive to learn, at least partially. Canry is mostly just trying to catch up with the times. Let's just say of the world and town she came from . . indoor plumbing is a novelty.
Off to school the very next morning!
. . wait, how can you have homework to leave behind already? I guess homework is the bane of even studious kids.
Frank to the rescue!
And really, he dotes on his little girl. I halfway wonder if he can read to her about cooking, and that would help her gain a few more skill points in it . .
Friday brings a surprise - while I wasn't looking, Frank made a deposit in the family bank, and they're now accruing interest.
Not that he notices on his way to work. Frank is a sweet guy, but not all there at times.
(Hiya
Nervosa Specter!)
Yeah, things haven't been going great at the business, but this is the first time I've had this happen. I guess I need more staff . . . but on the flip side, Iris isn't old enough to help in the store, which would be ideal. Maybe it's time for the family to open a new store?
AUGHFREAKINGWITCHES. Problem is, I want them to show up at some of the community lots, but not the stores . .
Suck it up Frank. Yes, roaches are icky, but you don't need to cry about it . . wait, what's that?
EMPRESS KIM~!
Canry has no trouble coaxing Kim inside, and furthermore . .
. . no trouble convincing Kim to join their happy little home!
Welcome to the Creeksides, Kim. What changed your mind?
the miss is a suitable two-legs, but the two-legs kitten is easily trained to serve
see? easily trained
And really, Canry may have convinced Kim to stay, but Kim is Iris's cat through and through. Wherever Iris is, Kim tends to follow.
She's not so fond of Frank though - he lays down the law about such things as piddling inside, or scratching the furniture.
But Frank is the reason they can manage to do hikes at night. Good solid family bonding!
"Mommy, did you know that Mozart is soothing for the baby and helps it grow smart before it's born?"
"Why no - thank you for telling me that, Iris."
"But your timing is a little laaAAAAAAAAAAATE! AAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUGH!"
And lo, another black-haired, blue-eyed baby is born!
Everybody, meet Lily . . . if their third daughter is a girl, I'm naming her Arnica-wait, what the honk is that in the window . . ?
AUGH
(It is way too freaky when that happens.)
At least the family is safe inside, and happily cooing over their newest member.
. . . Um. You just HAD A KID. Your wife's uterus is not a clown car.
. . I just don't wanna know.
