Things To Do Before the End of 2011:
Finish at least five cross-stitching projects (can include the two I'm working on now).
Learn to bartend.
Memorize as many Scottish and Irish folk songs as possible.
Brush up on my French.
Learn some German.
Learn some Russian.
Read twenty books.
Knit an afghan.
Get TEFL-certified.
Get an Australian working holiday visa.
Leave the US, with no planned return date.
Had my first Russian lesson today! I'm taking Znaida Russian School's beginning RSL class for adults at a church in Raleigh. At the moment, the class consists of me and one other older gentleman. Our teacher is a young woman from Vladivostok named Tatiana. We learned about 15 words and phrases today ("Hello," "How are you," "Fine," etc), and got an overview of the Cyrillic alphabet. I was living in fear of this alphabet, but really it's not that hard once you learn a few key rules.
So, exciting stuff. I will hopefully register for a German class at Durham Tech sometime this week, and then all I have to do is find a French class and I'll be learning or re-learning a Romance language, a Germanic language, and a Slavic language all at once. My inner academic is squeeing. =D
