An apology to the forum

Last week I posted a field note that contained potentially offensive and certainly inappropriate content. This is first an apology to those I may have offended. I exercised poor judgment and a lack of respect for the learning environment we all share and didn't consider the well-being of all who participate. I've spent the past few days considering why I would post something that I would find parts of uncomfortable to read aloud in a classroom environment. I've gained an understanding of what allowed me to do this and an explanation is irrelevant. Trust that I know how to ensure it doesn't happen again. I hope it didn't offend anyone very much.

Perhaps a larger issue is the way I interacted with the kids at 5D last week. While it was not my intent to encourage or reinforce and, to a limited extent engage in, the language they were using, that is the end result. I've spent a lot of time thinking about why I passively condoned and at times actively participated in it. It turns out that's complicated and also irrelevant. I showed a disregard and lack of respect for the rules of 5D. In the future I'll be respecting them and requiring the children to respect them too of course. It's here I'd like to also apologize to all those participating in 5D for undermining their efforts and not respecting the rules and their purposes.

I would like to note that I don't actually have a copy of the rules. I don't know whether I had them and lost them or not but I'd like to get a copy. No doubt they contain nothing that shouldn't be self-evident to any adult with common sense, but I might benefit from reviewing them. I'd also like to be able to reference them when discouraging inappropriate behavior.
