Summary: Arthur always feels like there is a lot of expectations on his shoulders and knows that it's his responsibility as prince/future king to protect his kingdom. He has "affection issues" with affections because he never really grew up with affections (his father's rarely affectionate and his mother died at a young age). Because of that neglect from his father, he's very emotionally distant to his friends and his foster sister. Because of his father's neglect and the pressure the king gives him, he doubts his capabilities as future king and he doubts his importance (which is why he will do everything to protect Camelot). Until Guinevere came and changed his output in life, showed him her full faith and gave him the affection and love that was never fully given to him.
