good things

1 - Happy belated birthday to Raquel, even though I said it privately to her when it was actually her birthday. *\o/* Love you, brainspouse. ♥

2 - On Thanksgiving, I saw August Rush in theaters. I thought it was amazing, and so, was very surprised when I read reviews afterward that complained about how awful it was. More than half the people who reviewed it on rottentomatoes didn't like it, and it hasn't gotten great reviews from critics either. So, as I said, I was very surprised. But, I read one person's comment who DID like it and I think I agree with them; they said something like "if you don't have a good imagination, you won't like this movie." That's kind of true. My mom later said almost the same thing to me and my sister. I think I loved it because I can imagine what it's like to feel the music like that, and plus, it's a fairy-tale type romantic chick-flick, and it doesn't get too incredibly cheesy.

I thought the main character kid, Freddie Highmore, was awesome, though it was slightly jarring to hear him with an American accent. Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Keri Russell were both very beautiful (I fell in love with Lyla's hair. omg so pretty.) and even more beautiful together. I didn't like Robin Williams's character as much, though; he got really annoying pretty fast, which was kind of the point, I guess... Anyway, let's see. I also loved (adored!) the music and the cool swooping camera shots and the little montages during the songs. I want to own this movie when it comes out on DVD. I loooved it.

3 - Also on Thanksgiving, after coming home from the movie theater, I watched Brokeback Mountain for the FIRST TIME (I know, I know, I'm way behind the times here). First, let me tell you what I thought before I saw it: I thought it was going to be about cowboys and the gay part was kind of... stuck in there and it would be slightly awkward. And I'm not a huge fan of cowboy-type movies. So, I was expecting to like it alright, but I didn't think it would be one of those movies I absolutely fell in love with. I WAS WRONG. I loved it. I think it started a bit slow, but once it did get started, things just kept happening. Not big things, but little things that actually affected the characters. And oh my GOD, the violent, passionate kissing was so perfect. That's how I picture quite a lot of my fic kisses; that same ferocity and desperation. OMG I LOVE IT. Okay, anyway. At first, I liked Heath Ledger's character, Ennis, more, but after they actually fell in love, I started liking him less, mostly for the way he treated Jack and how much he didn't want their affair to continue. AND THEN OMG THE ENDING. I CRIED. And the flashback it showed of them both back on Brokeback that first time, and Ennis had his arm around Jack... SO MUCH LOVE. Yeah, so, it was awesome. I can see why so many people liked it. :P

4 - I watched Sleepy Hollow for the first time a few days ago. I thought it was kinda ehh, but I did like Johnny Depp (of course). And in the middle of it, they showed a preview of Sweeny Todd. OMG I WANT TO SEE IT. SIFF has a free-for-members screening sometime in early December, but I think it's probably sold out by now. I'm not sure if I have something else that night or what, but omg if I'm free and it's still available, I AM GOING. Helena Bonham Carter is so awesome. As is Alan Rickman. And Johnny Depp. And the whole dark, spooky aspect of it.

5 - Okay, NaNoWriMo time. Last night I made it to 40k. All of the sudden, 50k seems a hell of a lot closer. BUT, I have a problem. I'm going to my friend's birthday party on Friday (the 30th) directly after being at school all day, so, no chance to write or upload it to be validated. NOT GOOD. So, basically, I have to finish by the 29th. *headdesk* Last night I wrote a whole subplot that I hadn't planned, thought out at all, or even thought OF until I started writing it. So, there's absolutely nothing foreshadowing what happens, which I don't really like, but editing is for later. For now, at least I have another few thousand words added to it.

other random things: House season 3 bloopers! and omg hilarious (but PAINFUL) gymnastics bloopers! and my sister linked me to these soccer bloopers. :P
