I heard some people talk about 2020 being a dumpster fire or the worst year ever.
I'm not going ot lie about it being a hell of a year, with lots of crappy shit happening to the world at large, and to me personally, but 2014 was worse for me, and 2019 was a REALLY rought year. So rough that 2020 was really just a continuation of it.
Maybe life is supposed to be rough though. Sometimes I feel like people think life is supposed to be fair, easy, joyous, meaningful, and fun all the time, so 2020 hit and they're in shock. Maybe I'm being a bitch. I get annoyed when people say "life is unfair!" or "can you believe something bad happened?" like they have no idea that unfair or bad things happens in life. Jesus, it took you decades of living on this crazy rocks where parents sell their own kids into prostitution, politicians want to fine peple for doing the same thing they do themselves, and a bunch of other bullshit to realize that life is unfair and bad things happen? Life is hard. Harder for some than others of course, but things are going to suck at time.
That said, there were supreme bright spots in both 2019 and 2020. My class in 2019 ended up being an absolute treasure and I am so glad I got to teach them. My next class in 2020 was fantastic. I love this bunch of students and I had a blast teaching them.
I am lucky to have experienced what I did with my classes. 2019 and 2020 was worth it for them. Here's hoping for more teaching in 2021.
