Ah!

So, there is a mostly formal work dinner tonight (with book reps and stuff), and I always relish the opportunity to dress up... Except it is occurring to me that I have too many black dresses that I don't wear often enough to justify their existence in my closet.

Which means it is poll time, my darlings!

Poll The Little Black Dress ExtravaganzaI should be able to manage it from here ( Read more... )

I love flowy black cocktail dresses. Especially if you have an awesome pair of shoes peeking out from beneath.

It's what I'm leaning towards as well... Largely because I realised that the cream one badly needs drycleaning.

There are very few things I miss about my job, but long, flowy (flowey? flow-y?) cocktail dresses is definitely on that list. I still have one in my closet that I never got a chance to wear. Each time I think about it, I sulk.

What kind of shoes do you have to go with your gown?

Well, this is one also knee-length (or would be if I were appropriately petite)-it just flares and has a lovely cut.

I'm debating between blue stilettos and red pumps (although I'll have to pick up some insoles for the red ones because they're too wide and have an irritating habit of slipping off).

Fitted black--if you're fit, flaunt it!

Although the flowy one cinches at the waist. The proper waist. None of this empire business.

Hmmmm.... that may make a difference. Empire waists *sniffs* That's a bad.

I like them, but they work much better on long dresses. I shall have to contemplate...

If I were at home, I would take a picture of them side by side and force you to choose.
