Ah!

So, there is a mostly formal work dinner tonight (with book reps and stuff), and I always relish the opportunity to dress up... Except it is occurring to me that I have too many black dresses that I don't wear often enough to justify their existence in my closet.

Which means it is poll time, my darlings!

Poll The Little Black Dress ExtravaganzaI should be able to manage it from here ( Read more... )

I love flowy black cocktail dresses. Especially if you have an awesome pair of shoes peeking out from beneath.

It's what I'm leaning towards as well... Largely because I realised that the cream one badly needs drycleaning.

There are very few things I miss about my job, but long, flowy (flowey? flow-y?) cocktail dresses is definitely on that list. I still have one in my closet that I never got a chance to wear. Each time I think about it, I sulk.

What kind of shoes do you have to go with your gown?

Well, this is one also knee-length (or would be if I were appropriately petite)-it just flares and has a lovely cut.

I'm debating between blue stilettos and red pumps (although I'll have to pick up some insoles for the red ones because they're too wide and have an irritating habit of slipping off).

I'm so biased in favor of red. Although the idea of having to go get insoles for it would definitely be a turn-off!

I like the red ones too... I think I have some insoles in a cupboard somewhere at home, so the only real drawback is the five inch heels.

I'll have to take the bus because, well, alcohol consumption, which means walking.

I'm giggling now imagining you tottering on to the bus in your 5" heels, a bit tipsy, and hoping you don't have to stand for the ride! ;-)

Have a blast!

*giggles* Fortunately, my lovely coworker gave me a ride.

I still went for the blue shoes, though, because I have matching earrings, they are from London and therefore have added awesome factor, and there was dancing.
