New Eyes

After all of the rain that we have had this past month, I decided to go out for a drive as usual. I had to wait though because all of the back roads were washed out to all of my favorite places. The weather has finally behaved for longer than 3 or 4 days so I was able to get a bit of my “Photography-Block” out. Further, this also gave me an opportunity to sit and write, even with the lovely smell of Citronella, the national Smell of Bug-Repellents permeating from my skin. It was just nice going out from the seclusion that I have been in for almost a month because of the rain. It makes a difference. At least to me......... T.

The setting sun disappears into the deep blue western sky
Rolling clouds give way to turquoise, coral and tangerine
Rustling prairie grass and mockingbirds resonate in tune
To the whips of wind in this place of beliefs and dreams

The previously parched earth is enriched once more
By the springtime rains in all their anger, might and fury
The once dead southern plains will again be restored
And life will abound in this land held in hearts so dearly

Swarms of fireflies twinkle in the darkest pitch of night
As do the stars reaching down from the heavens far above
Nature’s reincarnation has given me a newfound sight
In this once foreign place that I have grown to love
