Another good day.
While it was sad not to have the cherub Christopher at home this morning, he was in my thoughts all day.
It poured down with rain all day, and was chilly and windy so that is not a positive. But, on the plus side, I did go out for a run in the rain, early in the morning, while it was still dark. Ok, so I only went once round the block, but it was miserable!
My classes went well today, and I was pleased. #2.
While I was in my second class a student came in to say that he and two others had won the Otago and Southland Regional Monetary Policy Challenge Competition, so we are invited up to the national competition in Wellington. I checked with the multiple bosses and it looks like, yes, I can go with them. In fact, I should go because schoolboys can't be left to their own devices in the nation's capital. I have never been to Wellington. #3 and #4.
I am free tomorrow afternoon because the five days of rain (and counting!) have left the Dunedin sports fields flooded. So I can spend time with Christopher. #5.
Christopher had a wonderful time in the library again, and spent time moving poetry books to the novels section, and from the display into my hands...
Once home, he ate well; I reused the leftover chicken curry and mixed in the rice. I suppose I could call it biriani. Anyway, the youngster ate a good bowlful and it was so funny to see his "Oliver" act, as he walked to me in the kitchen clutching the bowl in both hands. He then ate most of a banana and also kept returning to get more. It was very pleasing to see him eating well. #7.
The bath went well. He was quite tired, but stoic. He emerged clean and cheerful, but was very tired so it did not take too long for him to fall asleep.
As ever, the fire is on, though I have to balance the rapidly diminishing dry wood with some damp wood.
10. Oh, the food was actually good, and the judicious use of leftovers means that I am economising on food expenses.
