In the last year, I've been really working on my torch skills. I've made a lot, lot, lot of my own headpins and such. Knowing how to operate a torch is also super useful for PMC, to fix little mistakes or fuse on additions.
Soldering has been something that was tougher for me, though. Particularly using silver solder chips-- they just never seemed to melt like all the tutorials said they would. I checked for heat sinks, did all the troubleshooting, and still found myself frustrated and scrapping difficult projects.
Pleased to report that I soldered 9 pendants this morning, easy peasy. This is going to open up a lot more cabochon setting work and that's very exciting. I would like to even to some fine filigree work with the torch as well, though I'll never abandon wire work because I love the texture of it.
Regardless, I'm feeling pretty proud of myself today.
