[news, fandom to be specific :P]

Nov 04, 2008 21:24

Ack. This took me longer to do than I thought. I'm easily distracted. *facepalm* And I'm sure that most of you are more interested in another kind of 'news' tonight. ;)

The Pop Culture Zoo has an interview with Amanda Tapping. It looks to be primarily about Sanctuary. (Worth a mention: she says they should be hearing about a second season renewal in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed!)

TV Week looks at how the primetime schedule will change as we approach the 'midseason' mark. The article also includes clips from Kings, Dollhouse (nothing new; re: Echo's sister), & Harper's Island.

24 will be premiering over two nights, January 11th & 12th. And later this month (November 23rd), Fox will be airing 24: Redemption which will bridge this season & the last.

The Variety article also mentions that Fox has yet to confirm the rumoured premiere of Dollhouse, which is said to possibly be January 19th. (Uh, toes crossed?)

And if you want more information about Fox's schedule, you can check out TV Guide's 'guide' to November sweeps on Fox. Spoilers for Bones, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, House, Fringe, a few details about that 24 movie, & lots of information about various reality shows.

If you really want to know what's going to happen on 24, Zap2it has the stuff. :P

Sci Fi Wire has a short interview with Stephanie Jacobsen about The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Vague spoilers in a few places.

Ron Livingston is working on a sci-fi show called Defying Gravity. It sounds kinda cool!

An industry magazine looked at the True Blood advertising campaign in a 'cross-media case study'.

And Rutina Wesley talked to the NY Times about 'being Tara'.

Hart Hanson talked to Zap2it about what's in store for our favourite squints. There are some mild &/or vague spoilers for future Bones episodes.

ABC might pick up King of the Hill after its run is over on Fox.

Ghost Hunters is getting a Blu-ray release.

The Last Detective is getting a North American 'Complete Collection' release. It'll be out on January 20th. (And this is noteworthy why? Because it's Peter Davison, of course! XD)

And, speaking of Doctor Who, Planet Gallifrey linked to a new trailer for the Christmas Special.

Ray Wise talked to Sci Fi Wire about Reaper &, dear gods, he's going to give me a heart attack. 'on the air in either January of 2009 or March of 2009'! March? March?! ... *cries*

Fanboys is finally getting released. The new date is February 6th. Sci Fi Wire has a new trailer at the link, if you're interested.

And there are also two pretty major things going on in TV fandom right now.

Heroes
Jesse Alexander & Jeph Loeb are no longer with the show. Variety & Sci Fi Wire insist they were fired, Entertainment Weekly just says that they're leaving, & the Hollywood Reporter says that it's due to 'creative differences'.

Hopefully the show will improve. I'm not saying that they're the only ones to blame, but I'm sure this change is for the better. I'm also really, really hoping that Jeph Loeb might finally have the time to see about getting Buffy the Animated Series back in development.

It looks like Tim Kring was pressured to make the decision & it'll now be his job to put the show back on track.

And, among all her usual gossip, Kristin says that NBC is looking into getting Bryan Fuller back. He did work on season one, which was the best so far. But that would require Pushing Daisies to be cancelled. ... I have no idea how I feel about that, I love both of the shows so much. D:

And there's also Grey's Anatomy news, but it's going under a cut because it's mega-spoilery. Brooke Smith has been fired, Ausiello was the first to reveal in an exclusive interview. Her last episode on Grey's Anatomy is this week's. It's a network directive; it's an 'anti-gay' network directive.

Also at that link is Shonda Rhimes' initial statement (towards the bottom)-- where she simply throws Brooke under the bus. *fumes* For as much clout as Shonda was supposed to have, I'm so pissed that she's simply bowing to the network like this. Stand up for something, woman, or your show will fall, fall, fall in the ratings.

If that wasn't enough bullshit, Melissa George's character is no longer bisexual. They rewrote the script specifically for that.

Dude. Seriously, what the fuck?!
