The Friday Five

1. How are you feeling today?

Pretty good now, but a bit sleepy. 4:30 was an early start to a weekend.

2. Have you gone to one of those emergency/urgent care walk-in clinics?

No, though I have often taken my children to walk-in clinics an gone occasionally myself.

3. What symptoms made you go there?

The worst incident was an asthma attack in my daughter. She didn’t present asthma symptoms I had ever seen before, o didn’t realize he had the condition until that visit.

4. Does it make you feel better to have the doctor translate your symptoms into a medical-sounding diagnosis (e.g., really bad cough = bronchitis)?

I wouldn’t say better, exactly, but I like to know what I am dealing with so I can then treat it appropriately. When I fractured my arm, it was good to know it was something more than a very sore arm (I had gone five days from injury to finally getting checked).

5. What is the worst tasting medicine you have ever had?

Buckley’s cough medicine. The advertising says “it tastes awful, but it works”. That is not strictly true. It tastes so awful I will suppress all coughing rather than being forced to take the stuff. Cod liver oil isn’t quite as bad, but it is also pretty nasty.
