Today the air doesn't hurt my face

It should. It was -24 this morning (-28 with wind chill), and I understand that translates to -11F. That's the coldest it has been all winter. I bundled up in a warmer coat for my walk to work and got a bit overheated. Walking between buildings for meetings, I didn't even bother zipping up my coat or using boots, hat and mitts. Yesterday I was ( Read more... )

If you're in the right age bracket it sounds like metabolism. I know it doesn't get very cold in the UK but that happened to me.

It's also being added to the list of invisible disabilities that workplace practices should allow for. Along with not allowing meetings to over run in case there's a diabetic attending.

In my case, I think it's metabolism from deliberately getting cold on a regular basis. I'm past the stage when it could be something like hot flashes.

Meetings should not be allowed to run over for many reasons (bathroom breaks, hypoglycemia, sheer boredom form poorly managed meetings...).

It's an actual book - I grabbed the picture from Amazon.ca (and there is only one left in stock!).

There was a -30ish day in December. The week after we all went to your house for crafts. That day I was seriously bundled and huddled.
This morning, sweater and unzipped wind breaker. I was thinking: Ottawa-valley paralance for this weather - "Bracing".

I think it's what you get used to. In December it was sudden, from near 0s to -30. Today, we've had a couple of weeks of solid -15 give or take, so the drop doesn't seem as bad.

As soon as my house is up to 17 inside, I start to sweat now :p

Now that you mention it, I vaguely remember that day. I was worried about where we would be able to swim.

Yup, it is very much what you are used to. I think of the Finns and their fondness for T shirts in January, and the Swedes who have daycares with little more than the three-sided shelters we use for the horses (and leave the babies out to nap in the snow).

I'm usually comfortable at 17 inside, but the girl objects, so I haven't totally adapted.

It has actually been a relatively mild winter, despite the early snows.

You couldn't drag me out of the house in that weather! It's a like a 'dry heat' out here. Honestly, anything over 105 F is just freaking hot.

Glad you aren't feeling it! Must be all those swims you took!

I can't argue with 105F being freaking hot. With humidity, I would just die.

I think it is the swims :).

Thankfully, our humidity usually lingers in the teens, so we don't have that to deal with.

I agree, it's the swims.
