It's so much easier to admit when you have a broken leg...there's pain, swelling, perhaps a bone piercing through the skin, a generalized disformed appearance of the lower extremity.
How do you convince an alcoholic that he has a problem? You can't...their behavior is normal...sane. Rationality exists in their own corner of the universe. You can't reason with the unreasonable. You can't creep into the places they dwell because you aren't allowed. People can create a place to hide from their misdeeds and stress...a place where access is granted only by the creator.
Sometimes a person can be so selfish and so self involved that they fail to see the suffering they've created in the world around them...the world where they don't live...the world of reality.
The most difficult task in this world will be forgiveness...understanding.
I hope and pray every night that I can find it somewhere in my heart...
