Sushi and Skiing

Went out to eat at Sakura last night...OMG, I love sushi SOOOOOOO much. My mom and I couldn't decide what we wanted, so we ordered three different kinds and shared them. We had calamari sushi (fried squid, rice, seaweed...it was delicious), King California, and spicy scallop. I was kneeling at one of their AUTHENTIC Japanese tables...omg, I swear I had an orgasm in my mouth when I bit into the spicy scallops. Ohhhhhhhhh baby.
Ahem. So, going on with my story, I was wayyyyy too full to have dessert, which looked divine...Banana Tempora, omg, I hate bananas with a passion, but the smell of those deep fried bananas with whipped cream and cinnamon...holy cow. Yeah. I could totally live in Japan. Except for the whole price issue. And having to take my shoes off inside. Not a fan of that either.
So I got home at 10, went to bed at 11, and got up at 5 for practice. It was totally worth it. I haven't exactly been known for my affinity for GS in the past, but the Wildcat coach John K. has kind of taken me under his wing. I think I'm his new project. With is fine with me, because in the past two practices that he's been working with me, I've started:
-Carving
-Carving with both skis
-Carving with both skis together
-Carving with both skis together around the gates
-Carving with both skis together around the gates in the CORRECT LINE

And so on. Today I had the most INCREDIBLE run...I was high and early for the gates, and I got right under the gates to where there was a nice pocket of snow...I totally missed the 15 feet of skating rink directly under the gate. Which I'm all for. I got down to the bottom of the course, and John was so excited. He said, "That was the best run I've seen all day." :-D
And he bragged about me to Coachie Coach, Coachie Woachie, and Dave. That was the best feeling I've had in a long time...Nobody brags about me to their friends. Except for John. Who is my new favorite person right now.
Slalom didn't treat me so well...I'm thinking that this year is going to be the year that I'm going to improve my GS, and NEXT year will be the year that I tie them both together. I have two more years after this one to kick some State ASS...and I totally plan to. Yeah, took a slalom gate off the thigh instead of the shin...whoops, nice big bruise. I'll get to show it off around campus.
Two more practices, and three more meets, including states. Hopefully we'll get to have our FIRST slalom meet this week as planned...I've kind of been missing out. Just to put this in writing, so all y'all are aware: This girl is making top 20 for GS in states this year. W00t w00t. Making top 20 for slalom would be nice too, but I don't have my hopes up.
My birthday is on Tuesday...FINALLY sweet 16. Yay. I'm skipping school on Monday, no midterms for this girl, so if anyone can think of something to do, let me know and I'll definately tag along.

Edit: Last night I watched the Last Samurai, with Tom Cruise. Good movie...I'm worried about the fact that I've been REALLY into Japanese stuff all of a sudden. Oh well. We all need our doses of Japan from time to time, I guess.
