Well, here it is, midnight on Sunday and I'm not even slightly tired. This is not good. Except that it leads me to post to my journal, which I haven't done much of this year. There's not much activity on the old live journal lately, I think facebook might be to blame. There are some things I'd rather not post to facebook for everyone I know IRL to see. Posts of a more personal note I save for here. Livejournal is more like my diary and the people I'm friends with here don't know me in person. So as it usually happens around this time of year, I'm in a reflective mood. This has been a fairly stress free year, due mostly to H@llm@rk promising to not have any big layoffs during our 100 year anniversary. I thought that was kind of them. My parents have managed to stay pretty healthy this year, as have I. Last winter was really rough. We had snow on the ground from Christmas until March. A fairly rare event for this part of the country. It was fun at first but got old really fast. On one of the coldest, windiest days, the creepy guy renting a room from the lady across the street did something extra creepy. He shoveled my driveway, both sides, down to bare concrete. This was a sub-zero day with 20 mph winds. Brutally cold. And I gave this guy no reason to do this. I drive a freakin' jeep for crying out loud. It's completely unnecessary. I had only talked to this guy once before. I was out bagging up leaves the Fall before. He was too. He yelled across the street if I needed help. He was over there with a hand rake. I have a 42" lawn tractor with a 3 bin bagger. I did not need any help. But in the name of being neighborly, I went over and introduced myself. He was kinda geeky with a slight speech impediment. He started talking about movies he wanted to see, which after I went back to my business I realized was probably his lame way of trying to ask me out, which is actually the last thing I needed. It's going to take more than the likes of him to get me back in the dating scene. Anyway, I walked across the street in the frigid wind to try to pay him something because I really didn't want to owe this guy anything, but no one answered the bell even though his truck was in the driveway. A couple of weeks later he came over to fess up to being the one who did it. I told him thanks, but that I really wished he hadn't and shut the door. I think he got the hint. Oh well this story has run on and I really should try to get to sleep. Later gator.
