I got my shoes today and they actually fit me now. I went for a walk in them today. It's an interesting experience. You don't realize how unconditioned you are for walking long distances barefoot. You have to kinda change your way of walking so that you don't come down so hard on your heels like you do in conventional shoes. They also completely change the muscles you use to move. I had the most trouble with the level ground. Going up and down hills was a big difference in a good way. Since conventional shoes don't let your feet flex naturally, hills are tricky to navigate. With the fivefingers on I felt like I had four wheel drive. Always before if there was anyplace I was going to get shin splints, it would be walking a hill. Sitting here right now, I don't believe I'm going to have any problem with my shins. Pretty cool. Now if it would just warm up and stop raining.
