I didn't know about this until I visited Belgium a few years ago and had lunch with friends, who encouraged me to try it (yes, it *is* nice, but no, not every day, thanks) and explained its televised origins.
For stroopwafels, track down somewhere local that sells Tregroes waffles. The company's based in Wales, but was set up by an ex-pat Cloggie. The non-chocolate-covered ones are the real thing (well within the normal variability).
bellinghman pointed out that they can be had from the butcher's here in Melbourn. Very convenient :-)
