Wingnut's Halloween photosDespite Blackwell promising chocolate, Wingnut and me skipped Neil Gaiman signing in favour of Anne and Francesco's traditional Halloween party. We spent the night in the company of a frog, a raspberry, depressed financiers, and various others. Many of the costumes seemed to have been the result of a last minute lab raid, which is probably why they turned out so great.
I'd rejected doing something financial so was wracking my brains when I saw that
Anonymous protest and was inspired. By wonderful coincidence, Francesco had dressed as Tom Cruise. Wingnut went as a
lolcat - "Invisible Halloween Costume".
Wingnut's fire act photosOn Sunday, Tower Hamlets organised a big fireworks display at Victoria Park again. It got nul points for using the 2001 theme and having part of the display below the level of the treetops, behind the trees. However, Monty Python's Galaxy Song and the Beastie Boys' Intergalactic got everyone bopping along. It was a lot of fun and better than
two years ago.
Afterward, as we wandered through Victoria Park, we came across a fire performer accompanied by a guitarist. Her show depended more on dance than trying to look dangerous. I wish I had a video to show because she was very very good.
