Snow Day!
Well, we've gotten buried under another snowstorm here in the outskirts of Boston. I think this brings us to 4 major storms since Christmas - maybe only 3, but I think 4.
(This was the highlight of the morning - watching the cat tryt (and fail) to get up the front steps into the house (she'd gone out the back, which was shoveled but was determined to come in the front for some reason)
Today is special though, because I get to have a snow day. My company doesn't really believe in snow days. It's only in the past year or so that they decided that for really bad storms, employees who have long commutes could elect to work from home - and with my 5 mile commute, I will never get to elect to not come in. (Not that I'd trade my commute every other day for one that would get me off the snow team, since that gets you one or two good days a year, at most!)
But today, I was already cleared to work from home for other reasons. I offered to come in anyway, since the snow meant all my other reasons were canceled, but my boss decided they weren't even calling a snow team day and I could stay home.
So, it's a lovely work from home day, and everyone is here. In another hour, there's going to be chili bubbling on the stove, and there will be a cornbread going in later. There's a jigsaw puzzle on the dining room table that we all pause to work on as we wander past, and H is outside earning some money shoveling the steps while Mr. Man and I peck away at our keyboards getting stuff done.
It is a wonderful way to spend the day, made all the sweeter by how rare it is.
