She won her class for the cart racing that she does with her dad. She (emphatically) wasn't the fastest kid out there - but she was the one who was there race after race and kept on going out, even though she didn't often win. She won the championship by being the kid who was out there there trying over and over again. You have to participate in a certain number of races to be eligible - and she was the only kid committed enough to make it to enough races to qualify.
I'm not a fan of the American belief in giving a medal or trophy to every one who participates, but I do like that her persistence is being rewarded. It isn't easy to keep doing something you're not naturally gifted at or to stick with trying to get better even when your progress is slow, no matter how much you like something. I'm proud of her for continuing to show up, continuing to keep on doing her best and for having fun just being there.
Keep going, kiddo. You'll find your inner speed demon eventually.
