Just when some parts of your life get back into balance, something else goes out of whack. It's like trying to hold onto a bunch of straws but they all stick out at funny angles and every time you smooth them down the other side starts sticking out again and sliding away. I had my heart set on coming to Squamish and getting a job in the library. Well, I had my interview, screwed it up, and am back to looking at retail again. Ah well, that's life. I will end up volunteering there soon, and work with them until they start paying me for it. Ah-ha Squamish library! You don't know what you've started now! I shall never give up! =D
As far as retail goes, I had an interview with Mark's (a clothing store) a few days ago, but I don't think it went so great either. Warren, the guy who interviewed me, said he was going to have to make his decision very quickly, probably that day, but I haven't heard from him since. I applied at three other jobs as well, so I am waiting by the phone rather nervously. I feel quite stupid because I waited so long for the library, and now it just turns out that I look like a lazy ass, sitting around in Squamish for weeks without any income.
Muff, our neighbour Mary-Anne and I have started a beginners quilting club. Both Mary-Anne and Muff know how to quilt, having taught themselves, but they seem to be having fun and learn a few good tips here and there. It's all new for me, of course, so I am having a blast! The first class was spent talking about quilting and the materials we would need, and later that week Muff and I took a trip into town and she bought me supplies and beautiful fabric.
Muff was a great help in picking the colours. So pretty!
In the second class, we made a nine patch block.
Fun!
For homework we are making a stepping stones block. This is mine so far, cut out and arranged the way it will be sewn.
I'm having a blast, and can hardly wait until next Tuesday, although there's heaps of cool stuff happening before then. On Fridays we've been watching Heroes and playing cards with Rina. On Saturdays Rina hosts a RP game (Exalted) which Rina, Jesse, Andrew, Andy, Keith and I. And that other guy, I keep forgetting his name. He looks like a younger version of my dad. And I've been invited to my very first thanksgiving dinner. So on that front, things are going well indeed. I just need to sort out this job business and some family troubles and everything will be hunky dory!
Until the next straw slides out of place?
Be well,
Peta xoxo
