fifty shades of heterosexual messing around... thoughts anyone???

so i never thought i'd read the wildly popular Fifty Shades of Grey series, but i saw the movie trailer and heard the song and said, what the heck, let me check it out, and i got on my kindle at 2 a.m. and the library accidentally had a copy available to check out (checking out ebooks on kindle is the greatest thing evah!!!) and so i got it and got sucked in pretty handily. i'm halfway thru Part 2 and i'm still enjoying it, but honestly, for a book that's supposed to be on the edge of everything wild and sexual and dark and dirty and wtfe, i'm really underwhelmed with the sex. it's good, don't get me wrong, and i'm not saying that i don't like how the characters are evolving, altho, imho, they are seriously plateauing at the moment. and i guess reading slash for the last 9 years has made me immune to anything that the average housewife would consider "out-there". mainly, i guess i'm kinda disappointed in the lack of bdsm, considering it's supposed to be a bdsm series.
anyway, i'm flipping down to Florida in a few days and me and Karla are gonna see the movie and the reviews are horrific and i'm just wondering what anyone here thinks about it, assuming anyone has seen it. i like the guy - Jamie Doornan - based on what i've seen in the trailers. i haven't seen him in anything else. i wonder what kind of Mr. Grey JBG would've been. i guess that's not the sort of role he'd be interested in at all, but me personally, i would've liked it! (i think)
in other news, i'm retired now, and very excited to be free of the daily grind at last. i ended my career on January 29th, my 50th birthday, and February has been a busy busy month. March is shaping up to be busy too, but i do hope to get back into the writing game a bit once things settle down. i'm not sure what the future holds for me longterm, but writing was fun and if i can still enjoy it, i'd like to keep at it.
i hope 2015 is treating y'all well. big hugs.
